Toolkit to avoid sin

Every follower of Jesus Christ sometimes sin. No one can say they are perfect, no one can say they stopped sining completely forever because God made them stop. This is what the Bible has to say about that:

-If we say we have no sin [refusing to admit that we are sinners], we delude and lead ourselves astray, and the Truth [which the Gospel presents] is not in us [does not dwell in our hearts]. If we [freely] admit that we have sinned and confess our sins, He is faithful and just (true to His own nature and promises) and will forgive our sins [dismiss our lawlessness] and [continuously] cleanse us from all unrighteousness [everything not in conformity to His will in purpose, thought, and action]. If we say (claim) we have not sinned, we contradict His Word and make Him out to be false and a liar, and His Word is not in us [the divine message of the Gospel is not in our hearts].
1 John 1:8‭-‬10 ampc

Now, not one follower of Jesus Christ can ever say they were tempted by God, it is impossible:

-Let no one say when he is tempted, I am tempted from God; for God is incapable of being tempted by [what is] evil and He Himself tempts no one. But every person is tempted when he is drawn away, enticed and baited by his own evil desire (lust, passions).
James 1:13‭-‬14 ampc

But the good news is God gave us a complete toolkit to avoid falling into sin!:

– But I say, walk and live [habitually] in the [Holy] Spirit [responsive to and controlled and guided by the Spirit]; then you will certainly not gratify the cravings and desires of the flesh (of human nature without God).
Galatians 5:16 amp

Walking through the Holy Spirit is a decision we have to make every day. We do so by a simple prayer, we must tell Him that we choose to walk through Him today, and ask Him to make us sensitive to His voice (His voice will guide us) .

-So be subject to God. Resist the devil [stand firm against him], and he will flee from you.
James 4:7 ampc

By choosing to submit ourselves completely to the authority of God every day it will help us to resist the devil and resist temptation. Again we do so by a simple prayer; we must tell God that we choose to submit ourselves completely to His authority. It does not only help us avoid sin, it is His will that we submit ourselves to Him because of Who He is. When we submit ourselves to Him it pleases Him and gives Him all the glory He deserves.

-Your word have I laid up in my heart, that I might not sin against You. Blessed are You, O Lord; teach me Your statutes.
Psalm 119:11‭-‬12 ampc

We have to remain in God’s Words. This is the only way to know the Truth. The Truth is very important because when we have thoughts that are not according to God’s will, we can counter them with what the Truth says about those thoughts. Like our Lord Jesus answered the devil in the desert with the Word of God so must we.

-I have strength for all things in Christ Who empowers me [I am ready for anything and equal to anything through Him Who infuses inner strength into me; I am self-sufficient in Christ’s sufficiency].
Philippians 4:13 ampc

Jesus is more than willing to share His strength with us. Anytime we need to resist temptation we can ask Him to infuse us with His strength. We cannot resist temptation with our flesh very long; we will burn ourselves out and eventually give in. This is why we must never hesitate to ask Him!

-I have been crucified with Christ [in Him I have shared His crucifixion]; it is no longer I who live, but Christ (the Messiah) lives in me; and the life I now live in the body I live by faith in (by adherence to and reliance on and complete trust in) the Son of God, Who loved me and gave Himself up for me.
Galatians 2:20 ampc

Relying on the Lord is a way of living we must all learn. We must never trust and rely on ourselves, the Word says there is nothing good in us:

-The heart is deceitful above all things, and it is exceedingly perverse and corrupt and severely, mortally sick! Who can know it [perceive, understand, be acquainted with his own heart and mind]? [Matt. 13:15-17; Mark 7:21-23; Eph. 4:20-24.]
Jeremiah 17:9 ampc

By always relying, trusting and having faith in Him, it will help us to avoid sin because our heart and thoughts will be directed on God and not on ourselves and it will help us avoid sin.

And finally, this is the Awesome reward for resisting sin:

Blessed (happy, to be envied) is the man who is patient under trial and stands up under temptation, for when he has stood the test and been approved, he will receive [the victor’s] crown of life which God has promised to those who love Him.
James 1:12 ampc

I pray this article will help you live in victory, blessings!

God Is Always Close

As a young follower of Jesus Christ, there was a time I felt God was so far from me… Until the day I was praying asking Him why He was so far from me He answered “I have not moved daughter, it is you that have moved away from Me.” It was a heck of a wake up call for me. But as I got deeper in the Word I read:

Am I a God at hand, says the Lord, and not a God afar off? Can anyone hide himself in secret places so that I cannot see him? says the Lord. Do not I fill heaven and earth? says the Lord.
Jeremiah 23:23‭-‬24 ampc

This verse alone proves that He is always close to us.

But then He also says:

All who keep His commandments [who obey His orders and follow His plan, live and continue to live, to stay and] abide in Him, and He in them. [They let Christ be a home to them and they are the home of Christ.] And by this we know and understand and have the proof that He [really] lives and makes His home in us: by the [Holy] Spirit Whom He has given us.
1 John 3:24 ampc

This tells us clearly that the best way to feel His presence is to obey His commands because when we do, we abide in Him and He abides in us. One cannot get closer to you than that.

I also learned right away that it is by our actions and thoughts that we pull away from Him, most of the time unconsciously.

Then there’s only one solution left, the simplest one:

Come close to God and He will come close to you. [Recognize that you are] sinners, get your soiled hands clean; [realize that you have been disloyal] wavering individuals with divided interests, and purify your hearts [of your spiritual adultery].
James 4:8 ampc

I hope this post truly blesses you as many of us at one time or another felt that God is far away from us. Blessings!

Has “The End” Come?

Feeding the Flock

The topic of “the end” is one that Christians love to talk about. So many have proclaimed this throughout the years on hand written posters while standing on street corners, declaring it from church stages, and now on the internet through social media accounts, videos, and blogs.

Many of these individuals or groups will point to some event, political change, or war that is taking place and say it is a prophetic event unfolding before our very eyes. While others are quick to label things like UPC bar codes to vaccination cards as “the mark of the beast” when they simply are not. This is a real problem among believers today, as it has been for many years now.

“How is this a problem?” you might be thinking to yourself. The answer to that question is this. When believers are constantly telling the world around them that now is the…

The Importance Of The Holy Spirit

But the Comforter (Counselor, Helper, Intercessor, Advocate, Strengthener, Standby), the Holy Spirit, Whom the Father will send in My name [in My place, to represent Me and act on My behalf], He will teach you all things. And He will cause you to recall (will remind you of, bring to your remembrance) everything I have told you.
John 14:26 ampc

The Holy Spirit is our Counselor, Helper, Intercessor, Advocate, Strenghtener, Teacher and Standby.

The only way we can avoid sin in our life is by walking in Him every day;

But I say, walk and live [habitually] in the [Holy] Spirit [responsive to and controlled and guided by the Spirit]; then you will certainly not gratify the cravings and desires of the flesh (of human nature without God).
Galatians 5:16 amp

If we try to obey Jesus commands and serve Him and others by our own strength we will quickly become spiritually burned out. If we try to transform ourself by our own strength we will never succeed;

But the fruit of the [Holy] Spirit [the work which His presence within accomplishes] is love, joy (gladness), peace, patience (an even temper, forbearance), kindness, goodness (benevolence), faithfulness, Gentleness (meekness, humility), self-control (self-restraint, continence). Against such things there is no law [that can bring a charge]. And those who belong to Christ Jesus (the Messiah) have crucified the flesh (the godless human nature) with its passions and appetites and desires. If we live by the [Holy] Spirit, let us also walk by the Spirit. [If by the Holy Spirit we have our life in God, let us go forward walking in line, our conduct controlled by the Spirit.]
Galatians 5:22‭-‬25 ampc

His presence within us accomplishes this transformation. But for this transformation to occur we must obey the commands of our Lord Jesus;

The person who has My commands and keeps them is the one who [really] loves Me; and whoever [really] loves Me will be loved by My Father, and I [too] will love him and will show (reveal, manifest) Myself to him. [I will let Myself be clearly seen by him and make Myself real to him.] Jesus answered, If a person [really] loves Me, he will keep My word [obey My teaching]; and My Father will love him, and We will come to him and make Our home (abode, special dwelling place) with him.
John 14:21‭, ‬23 ampc

The more we obey Jesus the more we come to know Him, the more He becomes our priority.  We all have a ministry in Christ but we all have one single purpose: to become Christ like. Every work the Holy Spirit does in us is for the purpose of producing Fruit to serve others and we get joy, peace, gladness, no matter the circumstances we are in, and we become more Christ like.

The Holy Spirit is our Teacher. If we truly want to know God and His ways only the Holy Spirit can teach us.

We must never depend on man’s teachings;

But the spiritual man tries all things [he examines, investigates, inquires into, questions, and discerns all things], yet is himself to be put on trial and judged by no one [he can read the meaning of everything, but no one can properly discern or appraise or get an insight into him].
1 Corinthians 2:15 amp

We must renew our mind by reading God’s Word, listening to teachings, reading teachings etc.

Do not be conformed to this world (this age), [fashioned after and adapted to its external, superficial customs], but be transformed (changed) by the [entire] renewal of your mind [by its new ideals and its new attitude], so that you may prove [for yourselves] what is the good and acceptable and perfect will of God, even the thing which is good and acceptable and perfect [in His sight for you].
Romans 12:2 ampc

By obeying God, walking and living in the Holy Spirit and renewing our mind every day, we have all the necessary tools to be transformed in order to produce fruit and become more Christ like. We have all we need to run the race well!  Blessings!!

A story from a friend worth sharing!

Here’s a nice story my friend shared with me this morning.
Several years ago, a preacher from out-of-state accepted a call to a church in Houston, Texas. Some weeks after he arrived, he had an occasion to ride the bus from his home to the downtown area. When he sat down, he discovered that the driver had accidentally given him a quarter too much change. As he considered what to do, he though himself, ‘You’d better give the quarter back. It would be wrong to keep it.’ Then he thought, ‘Oh, forget it, it’s only a quarter. Who would worry about this little amount? Anyway, the bus company gets too much fare; they will never miss it. Accept it as a ‘gift from God’ and keep quiet.’
When his stop came, he paused momentarily at the door, and then he handed the quarter to the driver and said, ‘Here, you gave me too much change.’
The driver, with a smile, replied, ‘Aren’t you the new preacher in town?’
‘Yes’ he replied.
‘Well, I have been thinking a lot lately about going somewhere to worship. I just wanted to see what you would do if I gave you too much change. I’ll see you at church on Sunday.’
When the preacher stepped off of the bus, he literally grabbed the nearest light pole, held on, and said, ‘Oh God, I almost sold your Son for a quarter.’
Our lives are the only Bible some people will ever read. This is a really scary example of how much people watch us as Christians, and will put us to the test! Always be on guard — and remember — You carry the name of Christ on your shoulders when you call yourself ‘Christian.’
Watch your thoughts; they become words.
Watch your words; they become actions.
Watch your actions; they become habits..
Watch your habits; they become character.
Watch your character; it becomes your destiny.
I’m glad a friend forwarded this to me as a reminder. So, I choose to forward it to you – my friend. God bless you.
If you don’t pass this on to anybody, nothing bad will happen; but, if you do, you will have ministered to someone today.
